This device is designed for men and women under 65.
Unlike traditional metal-on-metal implants, the Polymotion® device features a metal/plastic bearing, which may reduce concerns about metal wear debris. “Historically, concerns about metal sensitivity have made some patients, particularly women, hesitant to consider hip resurfacing,” Dr. Crawford explained. “This new (investigational) implant offers an alternative, providing more patients with a bone-preserving option instead of traditional hip replacement.”
If successful, the Polymotion® Hip Resurfacing implant may eventually become available worldwide.
