JIS Orthopedics and White Fence Surgical Suites hit a significant milestone on Wednesday, March 29, by performing its 15,000 total joint replacement surgery. 

JIS President and Orthopedic Surgeon Adolph V. Lombardi, Jr., MD, performed the milestone surgery, a total hip replacement. White Fence is located at 7277 Smiths Mill Road, Suite 300, New Albany, Ohio, 43054

“When I started practice 35 years ago, we were keeping patients on bed rest for 48 hours, and hospital stays of 10 days, followed by a subacute stay, to now a stay of five hours,” said Dr. Lombardi, Jr. “When we started in 2013, we were one of the few places that were doing exclusively total joints in a truly outpatient setting. Here we are, 10 years later, having done 15,000 more than anywhere else in the world. I don’t know a single outpatient center that has done that kind of volume.”

Patients now look forward to having their surgeries done in an outpatient setting. 

“Patients are now requesting outpatient surgeries,” added Dr. Lombardi, Jr. “They are excited about the fact that they can have their operation and go home quickly and get back to living.”

The outpatient facility has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Advanced Total Hip and Knee Replacement Certification by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards.
