Dr. Derek Snook

Joined JIS in 2018

Since coming to Columbus, he helped build the largest orthopedic practice in Ohio. He is elated to now be a part of a world recognized center, Joint Implant Surgeons.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science from Indiana University South Bend graduating Summa cum Laude. 
  • Medical doctorate with honors while receiving several merit-based scholarships at Indiana University including the prestigious Pittman Surgical Scholarship. 


Residency

  • Orthopedic Residency, Akron General Medical Center, Akron, OH.
  • His orthopedic surgery residency was completed at Akron General Medical Center, now part of the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he served as Chief Resident. 


Fellowship

  • Spinal Surgery, San Francisco Spine Institute, San Francisco, CA.

Dr. Snook has completed several research projects during his tenure that have been published in textbooks and peer reviewed journals. 

He has presented research at the International Society for Study of the Lumbar Spine, the North American Spine Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. 

From 2002-2018 he was a faculty member of the Mount Carmel Orthopedic Residency. 

He has instructed and mentored many

  • medical students
  • physician-assistant students


Although his practice includes non-operative management of spinal conditions, his practice is focused on surgical treatment and procedural treatment of spinal conditions.

His interests are less invasive surgery including the use of the microscope. Due to this, he was able to help start White Fence Surgical Suites with his partners where he has performed hundreds of outpatient spinal surgeries.
