Dr. David Crawford

Dr. Crawford serves as the Medical Director of the JIS Research Institute as well as the assistant fellowship director for adult reconstruction at JIS Orthopedics.

Dr. Crawford’s clinical focus centers on adult hip and knee reconstruction specializing in minimally invasive anterior hip replacement, partial knee replacement, and hip resurfacing.

DDavid Crawford, M.D., grew up in Columbus, Ohio where he graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1999. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Miami University with Magna Cum Laude honors. Dr. Crawford graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2007 and was appointed a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.

Dr. Crawford was subsequently commissioned with the United States Army and completed orthopedic residency at Madigan Army Medical Center with trauma training at Harborview Medical Center.

Following residency, he continued his military service at Ft. Campbell, KY. He also had the privilege of being the orthopedic surgeon to the Army’s elite 5th Special Forces group and 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR). 

In 2013, Dr. Crawford deployed to Afghanistan providing orthopedic care for US troops and allies in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Following the conclusion of his military service, he completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction of the Hip and Knee at Joint Implant Surgeons. He has made substantial contributions to orthopedic research, authoring multiple book chapters, publishing over 60 research articles, and giving presentations at national meetings. Dr. Crawford serves as the Medical Director of the JIS Research Institute as well as the assistant fellowship director for adult reconstruction at JIS Orthopedics.
