Brandon Passano, MD, MS is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, with expertise in primary and complex hip and knee replacement surgery. He is passionate about helping patients overcome pain, restore mobility, and get back to the activities that matter most to them, whether that means returning to work, enjoying time with family, or staying active in the sports and hobbies they love.
After earning his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Passano completed his orthopedic residency training at NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island; part of the NYU Langone Health system which recently was awarded the #2 hospital in the country for orthopedic surgery by US News & World Report.
Dr. Passano joined JIS Orthopedics after completing specialized fellowship training in adult reconstruction under the mentorship of internationally recognized joint replacement surgeon Dr. Adolph V. Lombardi Jr. and his partners. Through this advanced training, he gained extensive experience in primary and revision hip and knee replacement, direct anterior approach hip replacement, robotic-assisted surgical techniques, and complex joint reconstruction.
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Passano has made significant contributions to orthopedic research. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented his work at leading national orthopedic meetings, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS). His research has focused on improving outcomes in joint replacement surgery, direct anterior approach hip replacement, robotically assisted surgical technologies, optimizing patient recovery, and enhancing the overall patient experience. His work has earned national recognition, including a Top 100 Poster Presentation at the AAHKS Annual Meeting and Best Oral Presentation at NYU Langone’s Orthopaedic Surgery Research Day.
In addition to his academic accomplishments, Dr. Passano’s greatest passion remains caring for patients. He believes every treatment plan should be tailored to the individual and takes pride in building strong relationships with his patients based on trust, education, and open communication. Whether recommending nonsurgical treatment options or performing advanced joint replacement surgery, his goal is always the same: to help patients move better, feel better, and live life without limitations.
“One of the most rewarding parts of being an orthopedic surgeon is helping patients regain their independence. Seeing someone return to the activities they thought they had lost is what motivates me every day.” — Dr. Passano
