Ask-a-Doc: How Will I Be in Contact with My Surgeon Before and After Surgery?
Curious about post-surgery care? Learn from Dr. Jason Hurst how your surgeon at JIS Orthpedics stays connected pre and post-op in New Albany, Ohio.
Hello, I’m Dr. Derek Snook.
The most important thing to consider when wondering when you can drive after surgery is the safety of you and others.
There are some studies that have shown that it is somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks for the effects of anesthesia to completely wear off. There are other circumstances that are also important, such as whether or not you’re taking pain medications.
As far as your ability to drive, I would say most patients have the ability to drive as long as they meet other criteria within 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.
