JIS Orthopedics Adds Hand, Wrist, & Elbow to Services Offered in New Albany
New Albany, OH – AJ Julka, MD – a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic hand, wrist and elbow surgeon – has joined the patient-focused orthopedic practice of JIS Orthopedics.
Dr. Julka, an Ohio native who received his medical doctorate degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, is now treating patients at JIS Orthopedics’ New Albany office at 7277 Smith’s Mill Road.
“We’re extremely excited to welcome Dr. Julka and expand the services we offer to patients at our New Albany office,” said Keith Berend, MD, JIS Orthopedics’ Orthopedic Surgeon and OrthoAlliance Chief Medical Development Officer. “He has a wealth of experience and aims to provide every patient with the time and attention they deserve while also providing the most innovative and minimally invasive approach to their care.”
Dr. Julka’s scope of practice includes all disorders of the hand, wrist, and elbow from simple to complex. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery including carpal tunnel syndrome, cubital tunnel syndrome, basal thumb joint arthritis, CMC arthroplasty (LRTI) surgery with early recovery protocol, fractures, ligament repair and reconstruction and rheumatoid arthritis hand surgery and reconstruction.

Dr. Julka grew up in Strongsville, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and graduated Magna cum laude from OSU medical school. He continued his training in orthopedic surgery completing residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals. Following residency, Dr. Julka completed a year of advanced fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity surgery at Cleveland Clinic.

Dr. Julka spent three years as an Assistant Professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals. He then returned to Ohio where he served four years as Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center. Dr. Julka has published numerous journal articles, textbook chapters, and innovative surgical technique videos. He continues to be engaged in research, innovation in surgical techniques, and educating surgeons on a national level.
Dr. Julka treats patients at the JIS Orthopedics New Albany and St. Clairsville offices. He performs surgery at Mt. Carmel New Albany Hospital, White Fence Surgery Center, Fairfield Medical Center, and Walnut Creek Surgical Suites.
