Ask-a-Doc: Do I Need Rotator Cuff Surgery?
Unsure about rotator cuff surgery? Learn from Dr. Jason Hurst about types of tears and treatment options at JIS Orthopedics in St. Clairsville, Ohio.
Hello, I’m Dr. Michael Morris.
The facility will contact you in the afternoon, typically the business day before the operation, to instruct you on what time to arrive. Typically, you arrive 2 hours before your scheduled operating room time, although that time is a little bit flexible.
It usually takes about 2 hours to go through the registration process to get checked in, to get into the appropriate clothing for the facility, to get your IV started, to have your nursing care provided, and to meet the anesthesia team.
So, a lot goes into getting you ready for the operation on the morning of the operation, and then ultimately, about 2 hours after your arrival, is what time you’ll have your operation.
