Ask-a-Doc: How Long Will I Be in the Hospital?
Discover how long you’ll stay in the hospital after joint surgery. Dr. Michael Morris shares insights for a smoother recovery at JIS Orthopedics in New Albany.
Hello, I’m Dr. Derek Snook.
Return to work is partially dependent upon the type of surgery that is done. Less invasive operations, such as a microdiscectomy, may allow you to return to work, particularly if it is light demand work within one week, for example.
More specific demands in terms of difficult physical jobs may take longer and, in some cases, be as long as 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the person’s recovery and how well they are recovering.
