Ask-a-Doc: What About My Current Medications?
Discover crucial insights on managing your medications pre-surgery from Dr. Michael Morris at JIS Orthopedics. Learn what to stop, when, and what to take.
Hello, I’m Dr. Derek Snook.
The most important thing to consider when wondering when you can drive after surgery is the safety of you and others.
There are some studies that have shown that it is somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks for the effects of anesthesia to completely wear off. There are other circumstances that are also important, such as whether or not you’re taking pain medications.
As far as your ability to drive, I would say most patients have the ability to drive as long as they meet other criteria within 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.
